Well, I Haven't Posted In Awhile...Hello!

There is good reason though. I've been trying to get through school, and now I am back officially on my winter break.

And, there is something else that I am super excited about...

My new Nikon D810! I still can't believe how much money I had to pay for this, but so far I'd say it was worth it. I had to wait to see it for awhile now. We ordered it during my Thanksgiving break, and then I had to go back to school knowing that my camera would arrive at my house while I was supposed to be focusing on final exams. It was very difficult.
But now I'm here, and I am so thankful that it wasn't anything like the first camera I bought (the 7100). I think there was issues with that specific camera. So, I ended up having to return it. I'm glad though! Because now I have a better camera.

Anyway, I'm afraid I'm going to drive everyone crazy during break with my picture taking, but I'm beginning to feel the passion and the love of photography seeping back into me.

Day one on my break, I woke up early, and as soon as the sun started coming up, I headed out to take a walk around my neighborhood to begin warming up to my camera. It was very cold, but I got some amazing quality shots.

A Story To Be Told...

Okay, I feel like I'm going to be writing an essay, whoo! Here we go...

Hello there! My name is Megan O'Sullivan (if you didn't know that already), and I am a photographer.

Photography has been my creative outlet since 2011, my junior year of high school, and it continues to be my passion today. I started out with my parent's small, point & shoot camera, taking pictures of flowers my mom had growing in the garden and on the porch. I loved trying to capture those things from different angles and then going on the computer afterwards to edit them. I took inspiration from some of my friends who did photography before me.

At the time though I never thought I would venture as far as an actual business. I would look at professional photographers online and wish I could have a photography business just like them. It looked so fun! Doing what you love as a form of work. The idea felt a bit pointless though since I didn't have a good camera of my own.

And then one fateful birthday I was able to get a DSLR camera of my very own! I was super excited and I started teaching myself how to use it. Looking back now to the times I felt like it was a hopeless dream to start photography because I didn't have a good-quality camera, I feel like the view I had wasn't necessarily right. Yes, it would be more beneficial to have a good camera to get business, but having that good camera is NOT what makes you a good photographer. So, to anyone who thinks they can't be a photographer until they own an expensive DLSR camera, think again. Because I learn this time and time again: it is not about the equipment you are using, it is all about YOU as the photographer.

So, here I am today. I am a college student. I am 20 years old. And I am in love with the art of photography. I especially would love to focus on portraits and weddings. But really, I am very flexible, and I love to try new things and do pretty much anything that comes with me being behind a camera making someone else's vision come to life.

Well, this has officially been MLO Photography's first blog post. I am really excited to see how running a blog like this is going to turn out. This will most likely be the only post that will be in a "super-long" essay format like this. I hope to be posting future sessions on here and allowing you guys to get to know other people and their stories. Because everyone has a story to be told...
